Scientific Program

DOWNLOAD THE CONFERENCE PROGRAMME AND ABSTRACT BOOK

The scientific program will include a plenary session every beginning of morning and of the afternoon realised by seven invited speakers, special sessions that will address the themes of the conference will be organised after acceptation by the scientific committee, contributed oral and poster presentations will be included in several parallel sessions, and some workshops can also be organised after acceptation by the scientific committee.

Plenary sessions

Eight keynotes speakers have been invited by the scientific committee, they will realise an oral presentation during plenary sessions at the beginning of morning and of the afternoon from 24 to 27 August 2010. They have been selected for they capacity to attract all the participants of the congress in the major topics of the congress.

 

Special Sessions
(deadline for submission, February 15th 2010, close)

The special sessions complement the themes of the conference. Proposals of special sessions must include information, goals, objectives, importance, list of persons (no more than five) who have accepted to realise an oral presentation in your session and interest of the session to the membership of SER. Comparing to a parallel session, there will be more time in a special session for debates between each oral presentation and at the end of the session.

 

Workshops
(deadline for submission : February 15th 2010, close)

Workshops can be organised independently than the themes of the conference but must concern ecological restoration sensu lato. Proposals of workshops must include information, goals, objectives, importance, if the workshop is open or not to the others participants of the congress. Workshops will be accepted by the scientific committee and the organizing committee only if they are strongly organised before 15 may 2010 and if rooms are still available for their organisation. As a consequence the number of participants must be known to reserve a room of appropriate size (25, 30, 50 max)

 

 

 

 

Parallel sessions
(deadline extented until Monday March 22nd, 2010, close)

Parallel sessions are organized on the themes of the conference. Contributed oral presentations will have no more than 15 minutes, following by 5 minutes of questions and times of each parallel session will be strictly manage by a chair.

 

 

Restoration of ecosystems

  • Dry grasslands, heaths, matorral, steppic and semi-arid vegetation
  • Bogs, fens, wet meadows
  • Lakes, ponds, wadis (dry river beds), rivers and estuaries
  • Marine and coastal ecosystems
  • Forests, woodlands and shrublands
  • Rocky habitats
  • Industrial and polluted areas such as mines

Restoration as the bridge builder between nature conservation and sustainable local economic development

  • Socio-economic constraints, benefits, financing opportunities and solutions for promoting and sustaining ecological restoration activities
  • Legal constraints and solutions for successful ecological restoration
  • Improving collaboration among scientists, policy makers, and practitioners throughout Europe and the Mediterranean Basin.
  • Policy measures to cope with loss of traditional management techniques and knowledge

Restoration of habitat quality and improving conditions for reintroduction and reinforcement of populations of endangered species

  • Reference values for habitat quality and minimum viable population sizes
  • Evaluation of habitat restoration projects
  • Evaluation of species reintroduction measures

Fragmentation and connectivity in networks of protected sites

  • How dense and complete are the networks of protected areas and what connectivity level is needed?
  • Restoration actions across national boundaries in the Mediterranean Basin.
  • Expected impact of climate change and possible countermeasures
  • Expected impact of exotic, invasive species and possible countermeasures
