The International Conference Center in the Popes’ Palace
During the 14th century, the city of Avignon was part of the Pontifical States, and as such was sheltered from war and destruction. Since the High Middle Ages, Avignon has been a vital intellectual and commercial cross-roads in Europe, a choice location for exchange, meetings and discussions. Today, its internationally-known cultural influence and attraction have made it one of the most prestigious conference sites in the world. The International Congress Center was created in 1976 within the outstanding premises of the Palace of the Popes and hosts many events throughout the entire year. The Congress Center, designed for conventions, seminars, and meetings for 10 to 550 persons, now occupies two wings of the Popes’ Palace. The Jeanne Laurent Building, an outlying building just outside the Popes’ Palace Congress Center, is located in the former papal gardens and can host working meals or exhibits relating to congresses held in the Congress Center. The Jeanne Laurent building is made up of four vaulted rooms in exposed stone, with magnificent views over the Rhône river, offering a splendid panorama of the Rhône Valley. Le rayonnement culturel et touristique mondial d'Avignon en fait l’une des plus prestigieuses villes de congrès du Sud de la France. Le Centre International des Congrès de la ville d’Avignon a été créé en 1976 dans le cadre monumental du Palais des Papes et, à ce jour, accueille un grand nombre de manifestations. Il occupe deux ailes du monument et a été conçu pour des congrès, colloques, réunions de 10 à 550 personnes. Il dispose de 10 salles d’accueil et de travail. Les grandes salles de prestige du Grand Tinel et de la Grande Audience, situées sur le circuit de visite du monument, sont utilisées en complément des salles de réunion pour l’organisation des cocktails, dîners de gala, expositions. Le Centre des Congrès du Palais des Papes constitue le théâtre exceptionnel de tous vos événements. A proximité immédiate du Centre des Congrès du Palais des Papes, l’espace Jeanne Laurent, situé dans le jardin du Rocher des Doms, accueille les repas de travail ou les expositions liées aux manifestations du Centre des Congrès. Composé de quatre nefs voûtées en pierres apparentes, il s’ouvre en balcon sur le Rhône et offre une vue exceptionnelle sur la colline de Villeneuve lez Avignon, le Fort Saint-André et le fleuve.
